Site Specific Project (W3202)

15 credits, Level 6

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll use the Â鶹ӳ» campus as a rich and stimulating resource. You’ll transform your environment through sustainable, eco-sensitive site-specific performance.

Through this creative practice, you’ll gain new perspectives on known locations. This often reveals hidden resonances and historic/political meanings. You’ll respond to campus – both its history and its future – through a series of targeted creative research exercises. From this, you’ll make performances in self-selected campus sites, responding to its histories, contexts and memories.

Individual contributions might include:

  • music
  • sound
  • choreography
  • image
  • text
  • video.

You’ll make use of campus resources through research visits to the Keep and the Library. You’ll engage with current eco-projects running on and off campus, such as Knepp and Plashett Wood Site of Special Scientific Interest. You’ll develop your skills in collaboration, project development and management. You’ll also interact successfully with internal/external organisations.

Overall, the module aims to foster sustainable and eco-sensitive approach to art practice in the context of public space and the biosphere.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
