Major Creative Project (W3200)

60 credits, Level 6

Autumn and spring teaching

On this module, you’ll undertake a large, independent final creative project.

You’ll develop an in-depth and extended piece of practice research. Through this, you’ll articulate your own creative identity in an original way. This will also provide material for a professional portfolio. You’ll build on the skills you’ve developed throughout your degree, working in one or two of these areas.

Projects may be based in:

  • composition or songwriting
  • studio or production practice
  • creative systems design
  • multimedia and audiovisual work
  • creative collaboration
  • combinations of these areas.

You’ll receive support in:

  • structured stages of project development
  • identifying an area of interest
  • selecting and refining a project brief
  • formulating effective research questions and process
  • engaging critically with relevant literature, creative materials and methodological approaches
  • shaping a project plan
  • preparing a project proposal
  • submitting draft materials for feedback.

You’ll be assigned a supervisor with expertise to provide one-to-one guidance throughout the project. There will also be workshops and creative labs to aid creative experimentation and develop advanced skills appropriate to the main area of practice.
