Elias Primetis - PhD Student

Elias joined the lab in 2018. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Genetics and Biochemistry from Aberystwyth University in Wales and his Masters Degree in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the University of Crete in Greece. He is into bioinformatics, and in Βι¶ΉΣ³»­ he is studying the role of the regulatory regions of TEs both in cis-activation and towards host exaptation. Lately, he dived deep into centromeric TEs in A. thaliana.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Julie Dazenière - PhD Student

I joined the lab as a PhD student in September 2018. After my Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, I continued with a Master's Degree in Bioinformatics, both from the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, France. Due to my two internships, my interests have grown for bioinformatics, evolution and transcriptomics. During my PhD I study the evolution and epigenetics of plants transposable elements.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Heena Ambreen - Postdoc Heena

Heena joined the lab in August 2021 to study the interactions between transposable elements and the 3D genome of plants. Coming from India, she did her PhD and first Postdoc in the University of Delhi. She is an accomlished bench scientist leading most of the experiments in the lab. Outside  the lab, she is passionate about travelling and an ardent foodie! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Noah Bourne - MSc student noah

Noah is a 4th year integrated master's student studying biology. Throughout his course he developed an interest in plant genetics and evolution, eventually joining the Bousios lab in early 2022 for his master project on the structure and conservation of the regulatory region of plant TEs.
