The Laboratory of Apiculture and Social Insects moved from the University of Sheffield to the Βι¶ΉΣ³» in February 2008, when Professor Francis Ratnieks was hired as Professor of Apiculture in the School of Life Sciences. LASI was officially opened by Lord Robert May of Oxford on the 7 of April 2009. Professor Ratnieks is the only Professor of Apiculture in the UK.
