Professional Services Fellowship
The Professional Services Fellowship aims to strengthen the university’s institutional partnerships through cooperation on staff development and capacity building through staff exchange.

This programme supports staff development and institutional capacity building both at Â鶹ӳ» and our partner universities. It provides opportunities for staff to address practical challenges in our joint activities while offering staff opportunities to gain international perspectives on university services and management. Examples include, sharing assessment and exam processes where systems differ, or exploring collaborative approaches to research funding or curriculum delivery.
Staff may express an interest in participating, but the university will prioritise proposals that address partnership needs and agreed priorities. We welcome expressions of interest from staff who are directly involved in our key institutional partnerships or who have ideas that will support and strengthen these links.
The scheme is open to professional services staff and to academics with a substantial administrative or partnership role. Successful participants should be integral to the operation of the partnership and will act as ambassadors for the university. Â鶹ӳ» staff are also encouraged to host visitors from partner institutions to build international peer networks and share best practice.
For queries or to submit an expression of interest, please contact the Global Partnerships team at I.Dunphy@sussex.ac.uk.
Ester’s perspective
Ester Aventin Beamonte – Global Mobility Manager, Global Mobility
“I spent a week visiting The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen, China. I was warmly welcomed by representatives from colleges and faculties, visited the facilities and fully experienced living on the University campus. On top of that, I also had time to experience local transportation, attractions and tasted local food – who would have thought I’d like frog!
I am very grateful to colleagues both at CUHK SZ and the Partnerships Team here at Â鶹ӳ» for this opportunity, I could not have done it without them. I would totally recommend the scheme to other colleagues.”

Sarah’s perspective
Sarah Woodside-Bury – Senior Director, College Student Life, University of California Santa Cruz
“The entire experience at the Â鶹ӳ» exceeded my expectations and allowed me to achieve my initial goals.
I was able to meet with a wide variety of staff members from Global Engagement, Student Experience, Residential Services and Housing. This allowed me to get a sense of how the university is organised and how each of the staff units work together to support students.
Each of my goals were achieved by meeting with staff, getting tours and the ability to ask individual and specific questions. I would highly recommend applying for this program.”
