With National Mentoring Day coming up on 27 October, we want to take a moment to thank all our mentors, past and present, for their time, kindness, guidance, and support. Their insight and dedication makes a real difference to the people they mentor.
As a mentor, you’re not just imparting knowledge, you are building confidence, shaping lives and opening up new opportunities for so many. So thank you for being such a vital part of helping others at Â鶹ӳ» achieve their goals and succeed. We truly appreciate everything you do!
There are so many benefits to joining our Staff Mentoring Programme as either a mentor, mentee or both!
Mentoring is a developmental relationship focused on learning and growth, offering a safe and confidential space to share knowledge, skills, and experience. It’s also a chance to explore solutions to challenges. For mentors, the rewards are many - from honing active listening and questioning skills to expanding your professional network.
As a mentee, it can provide you with many personal and professional benefits at any stage of your career, including:
- a supportive relationship and safe space to explore professional challenges
- confidential and objective discussions
- new insights and the ability to view things from different perspectives
- guidance from a more experienced colleague
- constructive feedback that challenges you to adopt new ways of thinking
- tailored support appropriate to your situation
- space to think about longer term development goals
Available to all staff, please take a look at our Mentoring Webpage for full details on how to access the scheme.
